Lessons are 30 min long, but can be longer. They are taught in your home at a time that works for you.
Students are taught how to read music as this becomes the basis for everything they learn in the years that follow. We start on a drum pad, or snare drum if you have one. We progress to the drum set where we begin learning basic rock grooves. Eventually the student begins to learn to play jazz. This is important as middle and high schools have jazz bands. This gives the student more opportunities to play. Finally we learn Latin music.
Having over 30 years experience I have learned how to differentiate between students giving them a chance to succeed. I have students that have made the national guard big band, received considerable scholarship money to notable music colleges, became top jazz drummer of the state two years in a row, and a student with a full ride to Temple University. In addition to teaching, I co-direct Penncrest High School’s jazz band. Over the last several festival years the rhythm section has taken home multiple best rhythm section awards.
